Sadly, Day 14 marks the day that we had to depart from San Diego. I know for a fact that I will be back though, it was an amazing experience. The first part of the day was spent packing our vehicle and preparing for departure. We set off planning to go to Zion, but wound up driving to the Grand Canyon. We got to drive through Vegas, and that was a pretty cool experience. I also was able to start writing this today so that's a plus. We drove into Buffalo Bills because we were enticed by a huge yellow rollercoaster. When we got out in this 115+ degree Fahrenheit weather, we were not happy. Especially after we found out that buffalo bills' rollercoaster was not in operation. Very sad moment. We continued our drive and on our way there, Connor found this other guy that was also speeding a fair amount, so we drove with them for a while. I started driving and had a beautiful drive through the end of Nevada and into Utah/Arizona. We drove through Hurricane Utah, and we almost ran out of gas. I was not watching the gas level and we were on empty and had the light on. We drove back a couple miles to find gas, and I treated myself for once, to poptarts, a protein bar, and a Gatorade. I continued to drive for quite some time, and almost got pulled over. A cop flashed his lights at me but didn't pull me over. What a nice guy. We pulled into a nice lodge and all got some nice Grand Canyon shirts, then saw the campgrounds were full and realized we needed to sleep somewhere. I went in and asked how much a room was, and it would be 156 plus tax. Ridiculous. We kept driving until we were fairly close to the northern rim of the canyon, and then literally pulled over on the side of the road and went into the woods. Connor and I watched The Benchwarmers while sleeping on sleeping bags, while Mark and Danny slept in hammocks. At some point in the night, Danny got cold and joined us, and I rolled over onto the ax several times.
