Day 11 would definitely be one to remember. This would be the day we would travel down the western coast of California and arrive in San Diego. We drove out of the city through the Bay Bridge, and then headed down to Monterey. We stopped at a pretty neat surf shop and a thrift store, but nobody bought anything, and we drove right over to Carmel Beach. The sand here was so fine and felt amazing on my feet, but the sun wasn't really out and it was a tad windy, so nobody on the beach had their shirts off or were in the water. We found out why, after we all took a polar plunge into some freezing water. We ate some Krogers and apples and then hit the road, this time headed to Santa Barbara. We decided to drive the PCH, which was extremely beautiful, even though after 45 minutes we realized that the road was closed with no detours, and we drove the entire way right back. We got there just around sunset, but we weren't sure which beach to go to. We first parked near a marina and walked along the beach but it was surprisingly vacant. We walked for a little, and then drove to a beach about 5 minutes away, called Arroyo Burro. This beach was awesome, in a nice little cove with beautiful sand, just as the sun was setting. Just as luck would have it, two extremely cute girls arrived on the beach very shortly after we did. As Connor and I were the only single ones, Mark and Danny expected us to make a move. Although the opportunity was there, and they were giving some obvious signs they were interested, we did not say anything to them and they left. Sometimes it just isn't supposed to happen! Of course Mark and Danny gave us a hard time, and tensions were high. Next I drove from Santa Barbara to LA, where we had some fantastic In-N-Out. It was fairly late, so we were unable to see much of the city, and I will definitely go back there at some point. The In-N-Out in LA was much much better than in Salt Lake, and I was very impressed this time. Mark finished off the drive to San Diego, excited to see his childhood residence. We drove by his old house, just minutes away from the house his parents had just recently purchased there. Their new house was ridiculously nice, just like all of San Diego. Nice pool and nice shower and bath, the closet was ridiculous. I took a bath and then a shower, best ones I've ever taken. Bed was huge and very comfy.
