Day 9 was set just to explore the city, which I was extremely excited about, as I love cities. I woke up early and made eggs to entice Connor and Mark to get a move on. I had set a route to walk straight from our apartment on the corner of Washington and Hyde to the Ferry building, passing through Chinatown and by the Transamerica Pyramid. Then we walked along the water until Pier 39, which was celebrating its 39th year. The shops here were pretty cool, and it provided a nice view of Alcatraz. We spent some time just being tourists here, and also watched an extremely cringey clown show. We ate at a pretty nice restaurant on the pier called Wipeout, and I had a Salmon BLT. After lunch we headed over to Fisherman's Wharf. On the way we caught several street performers, including an acrobat, a magician, and a one man band. Then we walked around the wharf, before we stopped at Ben and Jerry’s and I got milk and cookies ice cream. I then bought a San Francisco shirt in a nearby shop, and we began walking on the beach where we could see the Golden Gate Bridge. San Fran is extremely foggy, but we could still see the bridge well enough. We stopped by Ghirardelli square, but the rest of the boys seemed ready to start heading home, so we were unable to go by Crissy Field and the Art gallery. It was a straight shot up Hyde to get back to the apartment, and we got to see Lombard Street on the way back. I was the only one who wished to catch the famed view of the crooked street from below. It was quite the hike. Finally, after a steep walk up, we had arrived at the apartment, but we had to stop by Whole Foods so Danny, the vegan, could have something for dinner, since the main course Aunt Julie provided was chicken. It seemed like a lot longer walk than it really was, on account of our collective exhaustion at this point. Finally, we returned to the apartment ready to relax once more. We ate dinner and showered, then watched the beginning of Tropic Thunder, before falling fast asleep after a long day.
